Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
